The Opportunity OR What we’re looking for:

Reporting to the Director of Business Systems, the IT Business Systems Architect is accountable to partner with key stakeholders and work closely with IT architects (Application/Infrastructure) and other IT resources to ideate, design, and enable Business Systems solutions.  The Architect ensures the Business strategy and IT strategy are aligned and initiatives captured via an integrated roadmap, and helps guide the architectural vision. They are accountable for exploring and understanding new technologies/architectures, and acts as the Business Systems design authority within IT to provide direction, oversight, and support to all members of the IT team as required.

What you’ll be responsible for day to day:

  • Build and foster relationships and establish a partnership with stakeholders in each of four Operating Groups
  • Develops the architecture and design of business system solutions that achieve the best value for our business partners
  • Researches and assesses technologies, tools, and processes in the industry that are relevant to the Client’s architecture and business needs
  • Lead the creation of prototypes and models to demonstrate the applicability and value of new solutions
  • Assists analysts and engineers in developing solutions based on the defined architecture
  • Ensures that business solutions have an enterprise and strategic perspective and support both business and technology strategies
  • Works with the IT Program Managers to lead the evaluation design and selection of business information system solutions, considering functionality, data, security, integration, and infrastructure
  • Defines and document business requirements by conferring with business partners and evaluating procedures and processes 
  • Leads and oversee, analysis and solution definition and prepare and present solution options to senior management
  • Facilitate cross-functional IT and business team design discussions and solution recommendations
  • Understands and adheres to access security model for all solutions
  • Prepare business cases for IT solutions, considering infrastructure, licenses, development and support
  • Participates in complex trouble-shooting issue resolution
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications
  • Improves upon existing approaches by seeking opportunities to creatively transform and optimize current industry practices into fresh alternative solutions
  • Proactively initiates, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with team members
  • Lead and facilitate sessions with all levels of business and IT
  • Chair the Architecture review committee

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or combination of related education and experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in a Business Systems Architecture role
  • Exposure to and an understanding of how Application, solutions, infrastructure and enterprise architecture
  • Experience working with SAP in progressively expanding roles, and working with both SAP and NON-SAP architectures
  • Proven experience providing architectural Solutions in business transformation projects encompassing people, process and technology
  • Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to architect highly complex, integrated business systems solutions
  • High degree of subject matter expertise in business systems and architecture and all related artifacts
  • Strong technical leadership skills with a successful track record in leading teams through multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, creative problem-solving and judgement
  • Ability to succinctly present to all levels of the organization with excellent written and oral communications
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and foster collaborative relationships with all levels of the business
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, highly collaborative environment where flexibility and teamwork are essential
  • Industry experience in Construction and/or Real Estate would be considered an asset
  • Agile Project experience is an asset
