JOB SUMMARY

Our Client has a requirement for a Windows Administrator on a yearlong contract to participate in supporting operations as well as project support in implementing the required information technologies and providing technical knowledge. This will require the person to be onsite 5 days a week throughout the duration of the engagement. The person will be required to be “on-call” on a rotational basis, and on occasion will be required to perform weekend and/or weeknight work.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Administrator will be responsible for the following:

  • Participate in projects by providing support in area of expertise
  • Provide IT advice to management and employees on the appropriate direction, evolution and usage of technology (architectures, systems, issues, opportunities, policies and standards) related to field of expertise
  • Work autonomously to resolve complex problems in a multi-functional setting, assessing and communicating issues of technology impact on the function/corporate level
  • Lead or participate in the planning of Windows server related operational changes
  • Participate in the planning and execution of testing related to performance, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Apply quarterly patches to Windows environments (Production and Non-Production) servers
  • Monitor performance and service levels by providing 24x7 support for the Windows server hosting environment

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
 

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of server administration experience, with a minimum of four (4) years supporting critical high availability and disaster recovery server environments
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Windows 2012/2016 Server infrastructure components (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File and Print)
  • Demonstrated patch management experience using Microsoft SCCM 2012 and WSUS
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Windows tiered application support (IIS, ASP, SQL), public key infrastructure (PKI) and scripting language (PowerShell, VBScript)
  • Demonstrated experience in performance and capacity planning
  • Demonstrated experience in HP server hardware support
